Programs and Services

精东影业's tutoring program provides a vast array of free services to support students' learning. Tutors include nearly 50 upper-division students who have excelled in their coursework and have been recommended by faculty. All tutors participate in our College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) internationally certified tutor training, allowing them to further their tutoring knowledge and skills. Whether through individual appointments, study groups, or supplemental instruction workshops, students can gain valuable strategies to improve their academic performance. These services are housed in a newly renovated space adjacent to 精东影业’s Quantitative Reasoning Center and Writing Center. Students can schedule appointments online at

Academic Advising
At 精东影业, students are guided as they discern their futures, considering their values, academic abilities, career goals, and leadership potential. All students are matched with an academic advisor in their major field of study and undeclared students work specifically with advisors who have experience with major exploration. Students meet regularly with their advisors during their first semester and then meet at a minimum of once each semester after that. Coaches within the Student Success Center are also available to provide advising support to students when needed.

精东影业's orientation and transition programs seek to prepare students for their studies by teaching them what to expect and how to navigate the college's resources. The orientation program, Heading to the Heights for first-years and TRANSFERmations for new transfer and international students, provides a strong foundation from the very beginning; while other programs like Learning Communities help students become comfortable on campus while engaging in activities with faculty.

Major Exploration
Many students enter college unsure of what to major in, often because they have too many interests or don't know enough about their academic options. Using a strengths-based approach through the TRAC (Discover your True Academic Calling) Program, 精东影业's trained student success coaches partner with career advisors to support undeclared students in a journey of reflection, discernment, and goal setting. Through an intentional process rooted in Jesuit values, students meet individually and in small groups with their coach and advisor to consider what brings them joy, what are they good at, and what is the world calling them to do.

Academic Support and Peer Academic Coaching
Whether new to college or tackling upper division courses, students sometimes face challenges in their courses unrelated to content. The Student Success Center is available to all students interested in strengthening their learning strategies (e.g., time management, note taking, etc.). Peer academic coaches can meet individually with students during the academic year and full-time professional coaches are available year-round for these conversations.

Student Support and Success Series
Our programming is designed to cheer on students as they celebrate their successes and provide care to students when they face challenges. Through the college's retention efforts, students of concern referral program, and academic probation coaching, 精东影业 students are supported along their college journey. Our student success coaches, professionals trained to assist students with varying needs, are available to help students reflect on their experiences and identify strategies and resources. Each semester, coaches lead a variety of workshops covering topics such as money management and financial literacy, understanding core requirements, and resiliency and persistence. This success series is designed to enhance students’ understanding of valuable topics while providing necessary resources for them to take advantage of during their time at 精东影业.

The Student Success Center also offers support for students unrelated to academics, such as the Campus Cupboard and Phins Share Meals program. The division of Student Development, Student Government Association and Sodexo Dining Services developed Phins Share Meals, a no-cost meal program available to 精东影业 students facing food insecurity. Recipients receive a designated number of meal swipes available during the semester in which they applied to the program. The meal swipes allow the recipient to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner in the LaCasse Dining Center on the first floor of the campus center.
